SAARA'S PASSAGE, the sequel to SECOND WATCH, will be released!

Karen Autio had the privilege of being a Project Judge at the 2008 Okanagan Regional Historica Fair where entries from students from the Okanagan were exhibited. The students put in a huge effort to prepare and delivered excellent presentations along with their fascinating exhibits. Well done!

Nov. 15, 2007 The Empress of Ireland Artifacts Committee turned over their collection of 55 artifacts to the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton. The Gala Opening of the exhibit of the artifacts, called "LOST SHIP, RECOVERED VOYAGES," was on May 29, 2008.

Previous Events:

October 21, 2007 Karen Autio presented on the Finnish connections to SECOND WATCH, participated in a panel, and signed copies of her book at the 2007 Nordic Literary Fest in Vancouver.

Sept. 9, 2007 Lake Country ArtWalk Arts Festival: Karen Autio read from SECOND WATCH and signed copies of her book at the Okanagan Writers' League booth.

June 7, 2007 Karen Autio attended the 2006-2007 BC Chocolate Lily Book Award Gala. SECOND WATCH shortlisted in the novel category.

May 22-25, 2007 LITERACY WEEK at First Lutheran Christian School with guest author Karen Autio.                        

Sept. 2006         SECOND WATCH reviewed by Beth L. Virtanen, Ph.D., in The Finnish American Reporter.

July 15, 2006 As part of Finn Fling, the Finnish Canadian Grand Festival for 2006, Karen Autio signed copies of SECOND WATCH at The Finnish Bookstore in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

June 29-30, 2006 The Empress of Ireland Artifacts Committee organized a fabulous convention in Calgary: SAILING THE EMPRESS: SETTLING THE PRAIRIES to celebrate 100 years since the inauguration of the Atlantic Empress steamships, the Empress of Ireland and the Empress of Britain. Karen Autio gave a presentation about the creation of SECOND WATCH, including a reading. In attendance were many interesting Empressphiles (people with a connection to and great interest in the ships) and fifty Empress of Ireland artifacts were on display. Click here to see photos!
