Okanagan were exhibited. The students put in a huge effort to prepare
and delivered excellent presentations along with their fascinating
exhibits. Well done! |
| Nov. 15, 2007 | The Empress of Ireland Artifacts Committee turned over their collection of 55 artifacts to the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton. The Gala Opening of the exhibit of the artifacts, called "LOST SHIP, RECOVERED VOYAGES," was on May 29, 2008. |

Autio presented on the Finnish connections to SECOND WATCH,
participated in a panel, and signed copies of her book at
the 2007
Nordic Literary Fest
in Vancouver. |

Committee organized a fabulous convention in Calgary: SAILING THE
EMPRESS: SETTLING THE PRAIRIES
to celebrate 100
years
since the inauguration of the Atlantic Empress steamships, the Empress of Ireland
and the Empress
of Britain. Karen Autio gave a
presentation about the creation of
SECOND WATCH, including a reading. In
attendance were
many interesting Empressphiles
(people with a connection to and great interest in the ships) and fifty
Empress
of
Ireland artifacts
were
